KARL FERDINAND BRAUN PRIZE
FOR TECHNOLOGICAL IMPACT

1987 - PRESENT WINNERS

The Karl Ferdinand Braun award is awarded for outstanding technical achievement, which has also had substantial impact on the display industry. The Braun award is SID’s most prestigious individual award, honoring those people who have pioneered the technologies underpinning commercial displays. The Karl Ferdinand Braun award consists of an engraved medallion, a bound certificate, and a stipend of $5000.

JAN RAJCHMAN PRIZE FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IN DISPLAYS

1993 - PRESENT WINNERS

The Jan Rajchman Prize for Science and Technology in Displaysis is awarded for an outstanding scientific or technical achievement in, or contribution to, research on flat panel displays. The award is made by the Board of Directors acting on the recommendation of the Honors and Awards Committee and carries a stipend of US $5,000.

ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

2018 - PRESENT WINNERS

The David Sarnoff Industrial Achievement Award is designed to honor outstanding recipients who would not qualify for one of SID’s technical achievement awards but who nonetheless have had a profound, positive effect on the display industry over a period of many years, and are broadly recognized across the industry. Winners of the David Sarnoff Industrial Achievement Prize will receive a $5,000 stipend, made possible through the generosity of BOE.

PETER BRODY PRIZE FOR EARLY CAREER ACHIEVEMENT

2017 - PRESENT WINNERS

The Peter Brody Prize for Early Career Achievementis awarded to a young researcher under age 40 who has made outstanding contributions in innovating the design and enhancing the performance of active matrix addressed information displays. 

OTTO SCHADE PRIZE FOR IMAGE QUALITY IN DISPLAYS

2006 - PRESENT WINNERS

The Otto Schade Prize for Image Quality in Displays is awarded for an outstanding scientific or technical achievement in, or contribution to, the advancement of functional performance and/or image quality of information displays. The award is made by the Board of Directors acting on the recommendation of the Honors and Awards Committee and carries a stipend of US $5,000.

SLOTTOW–OWAKI PRIZE FOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN DISPLAYS

2007 - PRESENT WINNERS

The Slottow-Owaki Prize for Education and Training in Displays is awarded for outstanding contributions to the education and training of students and professionals in the field of information display. The award is made by the Board of Directors acting on the recommendation of the Honors and Awards Committee and carries a stipend of US $5,000.

LAWRENCE TANNAS AWARD FOR VOLUNTEER SERVICE

1983 - PRESENT WINNERS

 

The Lawrence Tannas Award for Volunteer Service  (formerly known as Lewis and Beatrice Winner Award) is awarded for exceptional and sustained service to SID. The award is made by the Board of Directors acting on the recommendation of the Honors and Awards Committee. 


FELLOWS OF THE SID

1963 - PRESENT HONOREES

Fellows of the SID is one of unusual professional distinction conferred by the Board of Directors, acting on the recommendation of the Honors and Awards Committee, upon a SID member of outstanding qualifications and experience as a scientist or engineer in the field of information display who has made widely recognized and significant contributions to the advancement of the display field. Nominations for election to the Grade of Fellow must be supported in writing by at least five SID members. Nominees must also meet the membership requirements specified in Article 3, Section 1. e) of the SID Bylaws.
