Innovations in Display Tech Bring Us Closer to the Digital World
Mercedes finally did it, folks. After cramming multiple screens into their dashboards in recent years, they’ve now merged everything into one jumbo-sized display. The GLC with EQ Technology will be the first model to feature an evolution of the so-called Hyperscreen. Stretching from pillar to pillar, it dominates the interior with a massive 39.1-inch (99.3-centimeter) diagonal. Replacing the defunct EQC, the electric crossover integrates more than 1,000 individual LEDs into the enormous screen.
Dolby announced this breakthrough technology, positioning it as a solution…to the most common viewing complaints while maintaining artistic integrity. The 116UX becomes the first consumer television to feature this advanced HDR processing, combining Hisense’s proprietary RGB Mini-LED backlighting with Dolby’s most sophisticated image engine to date.
This Garmin is the first major smartwatch to have microLED technology, which boasts brightness of up to 4,500 nits. It also has LTE and satellite connectivity for calls, texts, and emergency response (for an extra fee). This is a new display technology that should allow for incredible brightness, even in sunlight, but with a tradeoff: shorter battery life, and a hefty purchase price.
Alogic has announced a new 32-inch display with a 6K resolution and a Mac-compatible touchscreen — the first of its kind, the company says. Dubbed the Clarity 6K Touch with Fold Stand, the first thing you notice about this monitor is its huge 32-inch display. Add the premium-looking squared-off bezels and a glossy finish, and you definitely get Apple Studio Display vibes.
Lenovo's Magic Bay HUD is a modular heads-up display for ThinkBook laptops. It magnetically attaches via Pogo Pin and supports Lenovo AI Now. Designed for multitasking, the always-on HUD keeps notes and notifications off the main screen. Shown off at MWC 2025 in Barcelona, it was described by the company as a "compact AI emotional interaction companion."
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has announced the official launch of its Micro RGB Technology offering its first display to feature a micro-scale RGB LED backlight behind a large 115-inch screen. This breakthrough display establishes a new benchmark for colour accuracy, contrast and immersive viewing in the ultra-premium TV segment. Micro RGB is powered by Samsung’s Micro RGB AI engine, which uses AI processing to fully optimise both picture and sound.
