Hong Kong Chapter

IAS Workshop, June 19 - 21, 2023

Overview:

The NanoDisP workshop will host leading scientists from academia and industry to discuss the latest development in nanomaterial technologies, synthesis, advanced optical, electrical, electro-optical properties, and their applications in modern displays. This workshop will provide a combination of industry and academic perspectives on how display and photonic materials from the nano-scale to macro-scale are rapidly changing, thereby providing new opportunities for industrial applications and challenges to explore for scientists and engineers. We aim to bring together front-line experts from multidisciplinary research areas to join us in advancing the intellectual collaboration between academia, research and market leaders in the field and to stimulate the exchange of information between industries and between fields.

Recently, the display industry has seen great progress in displays involving nanomaterials, mostly in the form of quantum dots, and the nanocrystal community has started to explore novel materials that can further improve image quality, efficiency and cost. Nanomaterials like nanorods and perovskites have certain advantages over existing quantum dot technologies that could be beneficial to the display industry. At this moment, there are several challenges that need to be solved before these materials can be applied to display devices, including quantum yield (brightness) and toxicity.

At HKUST, we have an extensive research program in optoelectronics and display design, and we believe that this workshop will be a great platform for our students and colleagues to interact with these pioneers and will be highly beneficial for their future endeavors. The conference will include important presentations by a wide range of eloquent speakers, and scientific leaders, around the world. It will feature a scientific program including keynote lectures and invited talks, special sessions, scientific discussions, oral and poster presentations of peer-reviewed contributions, to share the most recent research developments, discoveries, and industrial progress.

 Topics Include:
a)     Nanomaterial
b)     Photo/ Electroluminescence
c)     Perovskite
d)     Application of the Nanomaterial for LCD display
e)     Application of the Nanomaterial for OLED display
f)     Chirality and polarity
