Speaker: Dr. Michael Marrs, Director, Advanced Electronics and Photonics (AEP) Core Facility, ASU

Abstract

The Advanced Electronics and Photonics (AEP) Core is a user facility at Arizona State University which specializes in semiconductor processing that is open to the public and to student and faculty researchers all over the world.

AEP Core is completing its transition from the Flexible Electronics and Display Center and is currently refreshing its equipment offerings with 300 mm substrate capabilities.
As the Phoenix area continues to see new growth in semiconductor manufacturing, AEP Core would like to share how it is positioned to help bring trained professionals to the workforce, research new materials and processes, and provide expert services to small businesses and startups. 

Speaker Biography 

Dr. Michael Marrs is the director of Advanced Electronics and Photonics (AEP) Core Facility at Arizona State University.

Dr. Marrs has 22 years of experience in the semiconductor industry with a background in photolithography, wet and dry etching, sputtering, and plasma enhance chemical vapor deposition. 

His research interests include flexible electronics and displays and mixed metal oxide semiconductors and he has published 6 journal articles and 12 patents related to his research.

As the director of operations for the AEP Core, Dr. Marrs is responsible for bringing in new business, grants, equipment, and researchers into the newly created AEP Core while guiding his team to provide the best customer service for its users.
