2007 Display of the Year Awards
Help us recognize the year's best, most exciting and
innovative display products - send in your nominations for the
2007 SID/Information Display Magazine Display of the
Year Awards.
Last year, for the first time in the history of the Awards,
the nominations process was opened up to the entire display
industry - and you responded with more than 100 nominations,
making last year's awards the most competitive since their
inception 12 years ago.
Both SID members and non-members can submit nominations, so
long as the product was introduced into the marketplace
between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2006.
All nominations will be considered - display companies are
encouraged to self-nominate their own products. Gold and
Silver awards will be awarded in three categories:
Display of the Year Award
Granted for a display with novel and outstanding features such
as new physical or chemical effects, or a new addressing
method.
Display Application of the Year Award

where the display itself is not necessarily a new device.
Display Component of the Year Award
Granted for a novel component that significantly enhances the
performance of a display.
To submit a nomination, visit www.sid.org/awards/dya.html,
download an application for the appropriate category, and

L.A. Chapter to Present One-Day
Conference on LCD LED Lighting Technology
Following on the heels of an extremely successful, sold-out
one-day conference on LED technology in 2006, the L.A. chapter
of SID will be sponsoring another one-day technical and
business conference in 2007 on "LCD LED Lighting
Technology." The conference will take place on January
19, 2007, at the Costa Mesa Country Club in Costa Mesa,
California.
The conference will offer insights on the fundamentals and
state-of-the-art of high-brightness LEDs and non-imaging
optics (NIO), providing the background for further technical
papers that will cover the latest information in the use of
LEDs (White & RGB) in applications with micro- to
large-scale non-emissive displays.
The final program, which features 10 presentations, has
just been published and can be viewed at www.sidchapters.org/la.
Registration begins October 15. The cost will be $150 for SID
Members, and $200 for non-members. Non-members can sign up for
the conference and become members of SID for $225-a $50
savings! The deadline for advance registration is December 16,
after which an additional $50 fee will be charged for all
registrations.
