There is less than a week left before the deadline for
advanced registration for the 2006 Americas Display
Engineering and Applications Conference (ADEAC 2006)-so
register now to save $75 on conference fees!
ADEAC 2006, the premier applications-focused display
technology event in North America, will take place at the
Crown Plaza Ravinia Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia, from October
23-26, 2006. By registering before September 25, you'll
automatically save $75 on registration fees.
In addition, for the first time, SID is offering a group
discount for ADEAC-if three or more people register together,

ADEAC 2006 Seminar Schedule Finalized
The 2006 Americas Display Engineering and Applications
Conference (ADEAC 2006) will kick off on Monday, October 23,
with a day of informative tutorial seminars presented by
internationally recognized experts that will focus on the
fundamentals of the myriad technologies in the display
industry. No matter what your level of experience in the
display industry is, you will not want to miss these 10
outstanding presentations, which will cater to both industry
neophytes as well as seasoned veterans.
The lineup for the seminars has just been finalized, and
full abstracts and speaker bios are available by visiting the

Another highlight of ADEAC 2006 is sure to be the Evening
Panel, which will take place on Wednesday, October 25. Among
the speakers expected to participate are Planar Systems
Inc. Vice President of Business Development Brad
Gleeson, who will speak about digital signage and 3-D
displays, and LG Electronics Vice President of
Commercial Products Ron Snaidauf, who will discuss
hospitality displays and other commercial applications. A
speaker from Jaco Electronics will also make a
presentation, the details of which are forthcoming.
The Evening Panel will take place at the end of the second
day of ADEAC's strong, compelling technical program, which
will feature 70 papers in 18 sessions addressing a wide of
display technology and display applications. Session topics
include display signage/large-area displays, military,
avionics and medical displays, emerging technologies, home
theaters, and stereoscopic and 3-D displays. Attendees will
also get exclusive content from ADEAC's co-sponsor, the Video
Electronics Standards Association (VESA), which will organize
4 sessions on emerging standards such as DisplayPort.
After learning about the latest display technologies in the
seminars and technical sessions, ADEAC attendees will have the
chance to see these technologies in person at the exclusive
ADEAC exhibition. More than 40 of the world's leading display
companies are expected to exhibit at ADEAC 2006. A limited

Vehicle Display 2006 Preliminary Program
Unveiled
The program for the 13th Annual Symposium on Vehicle
Displays, organized by SID's Detroit Chapter, has been
set. The conference, which this year is entitled Vehicles and
Photons 2006, will take place October 12-13, 2006, at the
University of Michigan-Dearborn in Dearborn, Michigan.
This year's symposium will focus on the intersection of
vehicular display technology and photonic devices and systems.
It will feature 4 sessions plus the Keynote and poster
sessions. The sessions are as follows:
Thursday, October 12
- Keynote Session: The Keynote Speaker at Vehicle
2006 will be Professor Stephen Forrest, Vice
President of Research at the University of Michigan.
Along with Professor Mark Thompson, Forrest was awarded
the 2006 Jan Rajchman Prize from SID for outstanding
scientific or technical achievement in, or contribution
to, research on flat panel displays.

Mobile Displays 2006
SID's newest conference, Mobile Displays 2006, is a great
opportunity to network and get up to speed on the business and
technology trends behind one of today's hottest markets.
The SID Mobile Displays Conference will take place October
3-5 at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina in San Diego,
California, USA. This new conference is designed for business
planners, managers, engineers and marketing professionals
involved in the production, use, purchasing and design of
small displays, components and materials. The densely packed
program will cover Mobile Phone Products, Handheld Mobile
Systems, Small Displays, Driver Chips for Mobile Displays,

SID 2007 Issues First Call for Papers
The Society has issued its first Call for Papers for SID
2007, which will take place May 20-25, 2007, in Long Beach,
California, USA. Interested authors are encouraged to review

paper submissions are due March 2, 2007. Late-news digest

LA Chapter to Present One-Day Conference
on LCD LED Lighting Technology
Following on the heels of an extremely successful, sold-out
one-day conference on LED technology in 2006, the L.A. chapter
of SID will be sponsoring another one-day technical and
business conference in 2007 on "LCD LED Lighting
Technology." The conference will take place on January
19, 2007, at the Costa Mesa Country Club in Costa Mesa,
California.
The conference will offer insights on the fundamentals and
state-of-the-art of high-brightness LEDs and non-imaging
optics (NIO), providing the background for further technical
papers that will cover the latest information in the use of
LEDs (White & RGB) in applications with micro- to
large-scale non-emissive displays.
The final program is expected to be available in October,
and registration begins October 15. The cost will be $150 for
SID Members, and $200 for non-members. Non-members can sign up
for the conference and become members of SID for $225-as $50
savings!
