SID 2006 Exhibition to be Biggest in Event's History

Nearly 40 first-time exhibitors have signed up to participate at the 2006 SID International Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition, which will help make the exhibits at SID 2006 the largest in the event's 44-year history. These companies join 200-plus returning companies to comprise the most important annual exhibition for the information-display industry in North America.

The exhibition will take place from Tuesday, June 6 through Thursday, June 8 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California, USA, as part of SID 2006, which will run from June 4-9. At the exhibition, attendees will see companies that represent the full spectrum of the display industry, from the largest Fortune 500 corporations to small startup firms. Exhibitors at the show will represent 10 different countries and will showcase numerous technologies including liquid-crystal displays (LCDs), plasma displays, organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), flexible displays and electronic paper, 3-D displays, microdisplays, projection TVs, display manufacturing and measurement equipment, and much more.

As of March 21, 269 companies have contracted to exhibit at SID 2006, compared to the record 254 companies that were at SID 2005 in Boston. According to Danielle Rocco, exhibit sales director for Palisades Convention Management, the show's manager, there is still space available for exhibitors, but it is filling up quickly.

To date, 39 companies have signed up to make their SID debuts in San Francisco. These are:

AZ Displays Bridgestone Corp. BrightSide Technologies Inc.
Chi Lin Technology Co. Ltd. Citizen Display Cree Inc.
Delta A/S Dialog Semiconductor Displaybank
EGalax Inc.  Far Eastern Textile Ltd.  Flexmedia Canada Inc.
Fuji Electric Advanced  Technology Co. Ltd. Glaswerke Haller GmbH Horiba Jobin Yvon

TPO Displays Univision Technology Inc.  Zikon Corp.

Along with the 39 new exhibitors at SID 2006 will be the 230 display companies that return to North America's most prestigious display event. Included among them once again is the German Pavilion, sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Economy, which will feature 11 exhibitors from the German display industry. This is the third consecutive year for the German Pavilion at SID.

61 Invited Papers Highlight SID 2006 Symposium Program

With a record 540 papers being presented at SID 2006, it can be hard to prioritize which presentations are the most important. While all the oral and poster papers being presented during the four-day Technical Symposium are significant, the SID 2006 Program Committee has designated 61 papers as Invited Papers, meaning that the committee sought out these display experts to present these topics at SID 2006. Accordingly, these represent some of the top, most innovative papers to be presented during the Technical Symposium.

This year's 61 invited papers, the most in the history of the SID Technical Symposium, which will take place June 6-9 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California, USA, will cover the gamut of the display field, ranging from liquid-crystal displays (LCDs) and light-emitting diodes (LEDs), to plasma displays and field-emission displays (FEDs).
