Barco, Qualcomm Executives Announced
as ADEAC 2006 Keynote Speakers
SAN JOSE, Calif., August 10 - In today's world of
omnipresent electronics, the most effective OEMs (original
electronics manufacturers) understand how vital the perfect
electronic display is to the ultimate success of their
products. Similarly, the leading makers of display
applications, components and modules recognize how their wares
can best serve as the all-important human-machine interfaces
for OEMs, ODMs (original design manufacturers) and EMS
(electronics manufacturing service) providers. Attendees at
this October's Americas Display Engineering and
Applications Conference (ADEAC 2006) will learn how to
complete the product-development puzzle by creatively and
effectively pairing systems and display components.
This message will be emphasized during the Keynote Session
that will inaugurate the technical program at ADEAC 2006. Both
Keynote Speakers-Miles Kirby, Senior Director, Qualcomm
MEMS Technologies, and Dave Scott, President, Barco
North America-will give display and systems manufacturers
a well-rounded view of what it takes to succeed in today's
market.
"Both keynotes are extremely important and timely to
the Americas region applications community," Conference
Chair Stephen P. Atwood said. "Both of these
speakers are respected leaders in our industry and are the
perfect guides to help the ADEAC audience navigate the forest
of choices and challenges in today's display
marketplace."
Now in its third year, ADEAC is the premier
applications-focused display technology conference in North
America. Organized by the Society for Information Display
(SID) and the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA),
ADEAC 2006 will take place October 23-26 at the Crown Plaza
Ravinia Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia.
Qualcomm's Kirby will focus on mobile communication devices
in his talk, "A Revolution in Display Technology:
Enabling Next-Generation Wireless Communications." Kirby
will discuss how displays for these devices need to be visible
in a wider range of lighting conditions while also using
significantly less power, as well as how next-generation
wireless trends will impact the display industry, including
Qualcomm's steps to meet these new requirements.
"Qualcomm MEMS Technologies is showing excellent
insight into the future of the handheld marketplace through
its commercialization of the iMoD technology developed by
Iridigm, and Miles Kirby is the leader of that effort,"
Atwood said.
In his speech, "Market-Driven Applications of
Visualization Technology-Choosing the Right Technology Can Be
Critical for Success!" Barco's Scott will explore the
differences between today's multiple display technologies,
including liquid-crystal display (LCD), plasma, light-emitting
diode (LED), organic light-emitting diode (OLED), and laser.
Scott will detail the importance of selecting the right
display for specific applications from this plethora of
options.
"Barco is a well-respected technology leader and
innovator in the areas of visualization and larger-area
displays," said Atwood. "As President of Barco North
America, Dave is well respected for his vision and insight
into the future of display applications and technology."
The Keynote Session will kick off the technical program at
ADEAC 2006 on Tuesday, October 24. The complete program will
be announced later this month. ADEAC 2006 will also feature a
day of workshops on the fundamentals of display technology,
and an exclusive exhibition featuring more than 60 leading
display technology manufacturers.
