Electronics Makers to Complete the Puzzle at ADEAC 2006,
North America's Premier Applications-Based Display Technology Event

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 22-Developing electronics products is like piecing together a giant jigsaw puzzle. Displays are often the final piece of that puzzle, the one element that ties the product together and allows the user to effectively interface with the equipment.

At the fourth-annual Americas Display Engineering and Applications Conference (ADEAC), electronics developers will not only identify the display application or component that completes their product-development puzzle, but also learn how to make the pieces fit. Organized by the Society for Information Display (SID) and the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA), ADEAC is the premier applications-based display technology event in North America. ADEAC 2006 will take place October 23-26, 2006, at the Crown Plaza Ravinia Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia.

What makes ADEAC unique is its focus on current display components and applications. This allows attendees to learn about displays that can be incorporated into their electronics products today.

"Whether you are an electronics manufacturer looking for that perfect display to finish your product, or in an industry where you need to utilize finished displays for your applications, you will find everything you need at ADEAC 2006," said Stephen P. Atwood, the event's chair.

Atwood described ADEAC as a clearinghouse of display information, where attendees with any level of experience with displays can come, learn, network and make deals. The conference kicks off with a series of informative seminars on the fundamentals of display technology. The main segment of the conference is the technical program, in which leaders in the display field will present papers on today's most state-of-the-art display technologies and how they are suited to various industries. After hearing about these possibilities, attendees can then see them in person at the ADEAC Exhibition, where 60-plus display technology providers will showcase their products.

Among the areas that will be covered at ADEAC 2006 include high-definition television (HDTV), home-theater technologies, projection displays, portable displays, large-area displays, touch panels, organic-light-emitting-diodes (OLEDs), 3-D displays, backlights, and head-mounted and heads up displays. In addition, several tracks will focus on standards for sectors such as display interfaces, remote adjustment of displays, plug-and-play, LCD modules, and mechanical mounting of flat-panel displays.

The ADEAC 2006 technical program, seminars and exhibition will connect these applications and technologies to various industries, such as automotive, avionics, digital cinema and entertainment, digital signage, gaming and military.

Atwood pointed out that this makes Atlanta an exciting location for ADEAC 2006, because the state of Georgia, in particular the greater Atlanta area, is home to many of the largest consumer, military and manufacturing electronics companies in the U.S., including Philips, Siemens, Lockheed, NCR, Hitachi and L-3 Communications.

"With the leverage of SID and VESA behind the conference, ADEAC offers OEMs an unprecedented opportunity to connect with experts at all levels of the display industry," Atwood added. "Learning about different display options and connecting with display manufacturers will help these companies differentiate their products from their competitors, and ultimately improve their bottom line."
