14 Distinguished Papers Selected as Best of the Best
for Next Month's SID 2006 International Symposium

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 23 - Of the record 540 total technical papers accepted for presentation at next month's Society for Information Display's (SID) 2006 International Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition (SID 2006), just 14 have been selected as Distinguished Papers. These represent the best of the best papers at the Symposium, and should receive special consideration from anyone attending SID 2006, which will take place June 4-9, 2006, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California, U.S.A.

The 14 Distinguished Papers were selected by the SID 2006 Technical Program Committee in recognition of the papers' significant technical achievements, the originality of their authors' work, and the clarity and quality of the written summary that appears in the SID International Symposium Digest of Technical Papers. Three of the papers have been designated as Distinguished Student Papers, while two others are Distinguished Poster Papers and will be presented during the Poster Session on Wednesday, June 7.

The Distinguished Papers represent a wide cross-section of display technologies, ranging from the established-liquid-crystal displays (LCDs) and plasma-display panels (PDPs)-to the emerging-organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) and field-emission displays (FEDs)-to the brand-new-iMoD for mobile displays. Half of the 14 Distinguished Papers selected by the Technical Program Committee are based on the well-established LCD technology; these papers range in focus from thin-film transistors (TFTs) for active-matrix liquid-crystal displays (AMLCDs), to backlighting for LCDs, to flexible LCDs.

The 14 Distinguished Papers at SID 2006 are as follows:

  • "An Advanced Intra-Panel Interface (AiPi) with Clock-Embedded Multi-Level Point-to-Point Differential Signaling for Large-Sized TFT-LCD Applications," AnaPass Inc., Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., and Seoul National University. (Paper 43.3, Tuesday 9:00 a.m.)
