SID Breaks New
Ground with ADEAC - a Conference for Design Engineers and
Application Developers
San Jose,
California, July 15 - With the First Americas Display
Engineering and Applications Conference (ADEAC '04) - to be held
October 25-27 at the Doral Tesoro Hotel & Golf Club in Fort
Worth, Texas - the Society for Information Display is breaking
new ground. This is a conference for designers, product
managers, and marketers who develop display-containing products
for a wide variety of applications.
The industry is
supporting ADEAC enthusiastically. Keynote addresses will be
given by John Van Scoter (Vice President, Texas
Instruments), who is in charge of TI's DLP™ program, and Nikhil
Balram (Chief Technology Officer, National Semiconductor),
who is responsible for development of advanced ICs and chip-sets
for displays. Van Scoter's address is DLP™ Technology:
Innovating and Differentiating in a Competitive Landscape;
Balram's is Digital TV Electronics: Major Advances Bringing
the Cinema Experience into Your Home.
A rich program of
tutorials and technical sessions is designed to help
professionals evaluate display technologies, find the best
display for their system, and integrate that display reliably
and cost-effectively, said Program Chair Stephen Atwood (Three
Five Systems). Among the tutorials are:

Color Performance in LCD Products,

and Video Electronics, and

The 14 sessions
of oral technical presentations include Digital TV Systems,
Backlight Technology, Graphic Conversions and Digital
Interfaces, Technologies for Portable Devices, Military and
Avionic Displays, Projection Display Systems, and Digital
Signage.
An evening
session, Making a Digital TV Consumers Will Buy; will
feature a panel of distinguished display designers, marketers,
product managers, and electronics retailers, who will address
all aspects of this multi-billion-dollar challenge, and answer
your questions. Among the panelists will be plasma-display
pioneer Larry Weber, Gary Feather ( Director, Digital AV
Systems, Sharp Laboratories of America), Tom Edwards (SVP,
Consumer Electronics, Pacific Media Associates), Brian Patrick
(Director of Audio-Visual Design, EDI Ltd.), Hugo Steemers
(Director of Strategic Marketing, National Semiconductor), and
moderator Ken Werner (Editor, Information Display).
ADEAC will
provide information on the displays that are available to OEMs
and product designers, on display-device manufacturers, the
characteristics of different displays, procedures for selecting
the best display device for any application, and the display
electronics and components available to OEMs and product
designers. An exhibition will bring attendees face to face with
suppliers of displays, electronics, interconnects, packaging,
and test equipment.
