Leading
Executives from Global Display Industry to Explore Business
Opportunites at SID 2004 Business Conference
March 8 - The SID
2004 Business Conference, the Society for Information Display's
most successful new conference, will be held May 24 in the
Washington State Convention & Trade Center in Seattle, in
conjunction with SID's 35th International Symposium, Seminar,
and Exhibition. The one-day conference drew over 400 people last
year.
"The
conference covers display markets, productivity, finances, and
future directions, in a style targeted to the needs and
interests of people involved in Executive Management, Product
Line Management, Sales and Marketing, Financial Management,
Mergers and Acquisitions, and Purchasing, as well as to
technologists who want to broaden their perspectives," said
Conference Chair Elliott Schlam (Elliott Schlam Associates). The
speakers will share their experiences and insights in an
interactive environment. New this year is an evening networking
reception exclusively for Business Conference attendees and
presenters, sponsored by LG.Philips LCD.
Because SID's
Display Week is a can't-miss event for many executives in the
display industry, the Business Conference is able to assemble an
elite group of speakers from around the world, a group that
would be hard to assemble anywhere else. This is a unique
opportunity - and it's coupled with North America's largest
international exhibition of display products, featuring 240
exhibitors from around the world.
Bruce Berkoff
(Executive VP, LG.Philips LCD) will begin the program with his
keynote address, Flat, Digital, and Resolution That Will Knock
Your Socks Off: The Future of Display. With the various FPD
technology solutions that have emerged in recent years, many
people are wondering which technologies will survive, and what
new technologies and uses will be dominant in the future.
Berkoff will provide insights into the display-centric world we
will live and work in just a few historical "moments"
from now.
The other
presentations and distinguished speakers are 2004: Beyond the
Crystal Gateway (H.B. Chen, President & COO, AU Optronics
Corp.); AMLCD Substrate Perspective (Peter L. Bocko, Division VP
& Director Technology Strategy, Display Group, Corning); The
Development of Merck's Liquid-Crystal Business (Paul A. Breddels,
Executive VP, Liquid Crystals Division, Merck KGaA); The Present
and Future of Handheld Display Appliances (Antti Lääperi,
Vice-President, Product Technologies, Audio-Visual, Nokia
Group); The FPD Capital Equipment Investment Environment (Thomas
T. Edman, President and CEO, Applied Films Corp.); LCDs: The
Dominant Display Technology (Ross Young, President,
DisplaySearch); Life Beyond the LCD Galaxy (David E. Mentley,
Senior VP, iSuppli/Stanford Resources); Manufacturing Big-Screen
LCD TVs (Jun Souk, Executive VP, Samsung Electronics); Plasma TV
Now and in the Future (Larry F. Weber, Former President and CEO,
Plasmaco/Matsushita); Booming of OLED Business (Ding-Chang Wang,
President & CEO, RiTdisplay Corp.); Projection HDTV: Big,
Bold, and Beautiful (Vincent F. Sollitto, President & CEO,
Brillian Corp.); and New Disruptive Display Technologies
(Elliott Schlam, Elliott Schlam Associates).
Registration will
begin at 7:30 am. At the end of the morning and afternoon
sessions, the speakers will participate in panel discussions.
During lunch, a panel of investment bankers, securities
analysts, and venture capitalists will hold an interactive
discussion with the audience on what it takes to get investors
to part with their money for public and private display
investments. The exclusive networking reception, sponsored by
LG.Philips LCD, will begin at 5:00 p.m.
Registration fee
is $425, and includes admission to the Exhibition; $350 when
combined with registration to the Symposium.
