Display Research Conference To Be Held Jointly with New SID OLED
Business Conference in Phoenix
OLED
co-inventor Steve Van Slyke will give tutorial at IDRC; The
Business of OLED Displays Conference will complete a full week
of industry-critical learning.
July 17, 2003 —
The Society for Information Display’s 23rd International
Display Research Conference (IDRC) will be held September 15-18
at the luxurious Pointe South Mountain Resort in Phoenix,
Arizona. As soon as IDRC wraps up at noon on Thursday, Sept. 18,
the new Business of OLED Displays Conference, sponsored by SID’s
Southwest Chapter, will begin its day-and-a-half run through
Friday, Sept. 19. Since the IDRC has an OLEDs focus this year,
the conferences are (and were designed to be) complementary.
Together, the two conferences provide a solid week of
industry-critical learning and high-level networking centering
on today’s fastest-growing display technology, its
applications, and its business opportunities.
On Monday, Sept.
15, the IDRC will kick off with two half-day tutorials. The
first, A Review of Small Molecule and Polymer Organic Light
Emitting Diode Technology, will be presented by Steve Van
Slyke (Eastman Kodak), one of the inventors of the OLED display,
and J. H. Burroughes (CDT Ltd.). The second tutorial is Organic
Electronics for Flat-Panel Displays by M. G. Kane (Sarnoff
Corp.). On Tuesday, the program moves into a single-track
sequence of peer-reviewed technical sessions containing both
invited and contributed papers. The entire conference is
arranged in a single track to encourage interdisciplinary
communication, and includes rich opportunities for networking
and relaxation in one of Phoenix’s top resorts, winner of AAA’s
Four Diamond rating.
The traditional technical
sessions cover:
- OLEDs and PLEDs;
- Low-temperature Poly-Si;
- OLED Lighting / Organic
Electronics;
- LCDs;
- Novel Devices and Methods;
- Plasma Displays; and
- Display Drive Electronics.
In addition, 47
poster papers will be presented at a Wednesday-afternoon
session.
The Business of
OLED Displays Conference follows immediately on the heels of the
IDRC, beginning at noon on Thursday. Key executives from around
the world will lead discussions and present their points of view
on critical supply-chain, customer, and integration issues, as
well as on market forces and strategies. "Registrants
should find this conference to be of considerable value,
especially if they are interested in OLEDs and if they are in
Executive Management, Product Line Management, Sales and
Marketing, Financial Management, Mergers and Acquisitions, or
Purchasing, or if they are technologists who want to broaden
their perspective," an SID spokesperson said. A golf
tournament will follow the meeting on Saturday, and will be held
at the Pointe South Mountain Resort’s award-wining Phantom
Horse Golf Course.
The resort, which
provides a spectacular location for the two complementary
conferences, is a 220-acre mountainside property at the base of
the South Mountain Desert Preserve. In addition to the golf
course, there are six tennis courts, an athletic club and spa, a
six-acre water park, and five restaurants. All guest
accommodations are suites.
The Society for
Information Display is an international society devoted to the
advancement of display technology, manufacturing, and
applications, with headquarters at 610 South Second Street, San
