Big display event will also
feature new Business Conference, technical symposium, seminars
and tutorials, and 500 exhibit booths with 50-inch-plus LCDs,
PDPs, new large OLEDs, display electronics, and much more.
March 12, 2003 - At the
Society for Information Display Annual Symposium, Seminar, and
Exhibition (SID 2003), James Stoffel, CTO and SVP, Eastman Kodak
will deliver a keynote address emphasizing the critical role of
displays in the $385 billion info-imaging industry, and the
important developments in display technology and display
products that are needed to support it. SID 2003 will be held at
the Baltimore Convention Center, Baltimore, Maryland, from May
18 to 23. Stoffel's address, The Strategic Role of Displays
in the Info-imaging Industry: Is There More than Meets the Eye?,
will be delivered on the morning of Tuesday, May 20. A second
keynote, The Deployment of New Broadband Infrastructure and
Technologies, will be presented by Kevin J. Martin,
Commissioner, Federal Communications Commission. The SID
symposium is recognized as the international display industry's
leading event, and the exhibition is the largest display show in
North America.
Display Week will kick off with
half-day short courses on Sunday May 18 and the new SID Business
Conference on Monday May 19. The Business Conference is a unique
one-day event devoted to international display business
opportunities. It features senior executives of leading
display-related companies from around the world, including Bruce
Berkoff (LG.Philips LCD), Todd Thibodeaux (Consumer Electronics
Association), Jun Souk (Samsung Electronics), David Mentley (iSuppli/Stanford
Resources), and Ross Young (DisplaySearch).
Also on Monday is a program of
90-minute seminars, with a successful format that stresses
tracks keyed to hot industry trends, including OLEDs, plasma,
LCDs, and projection technology. The seminars, which continue on
Friday May 23, are being taught by a distinguished group of
instructors, including Ching Tang (co-inventor of the OLED, from
Kodak), H. Take (Sharp; LCD TV), and Greg Crawford (Brown
University; LCD Technology).
A rich multi-track menu of
technical symposium papers, vendor exhibits, application
tutorials, and special events held from Tuesday May 20 to
Thursday May 22 will provide designers, manufacturers,
marketers, integrators, and end users of displays with rewarding
choices, whatever their technical interests. The technical
sessions will contain over 300 papers.
At the Wednesday luncheon, the
Eighth Annual SID/Information Display Display of the Year
Awards will be presented. The winners of this year's Gold Awards
are Kodak's AM550L full-color, active-matrix OLED; Samsung
Electronics' DLPT-based, rear-projection HDTV monitors; and
Optiva's Thin Crystal FilmT self-assembling polarizers.
