SID Introduces
News-driven Display-Industry Website
at www.sid.org
New design and
content makes this authoritative site the preferred on-line
source for information about display technology and the rapidly
growing $70-Billion industry that is shaping the Information
Age.
San Jose, California, November 20
– The Society for Information Display (SID), the non-profit
technical society for the international display community, has
officially introduced its newly reconceived and redesigned
website at www.sid.org. The
site covers all aspects of the industry that produces electronic
information displays (including liquid-crystal displays for
notebook computers and cathode-ray-tubes for television
receivers), display systems, and the integration and application
of these displays in end-user products.
The new website is news-driven,
featuring frequently updated short articles and Industry News
and New Products columns prepared by the editorial staff of Information
Display magazine. www.sid.org
includes an extensive industry directory organized by both
company and product, a comprehensive international calendar of
display-related conferences that is updated weekly, a directory
of SID’s 26 international chapters, and a directory of SID’s
6400 members (for individual and corporate members only, but any
interested person or company can become a member). There are
technology reports, press releases, the current editorial and a
list of forthcoming articles from Information Display,
links to patent information, and much more.
Founded in 1962, SID began as a
mostly North American society, but most of the membership growth
in recent years has been in Asia, where display manufacturing
has been growing very rapidly, and Europe, where new chapters
have swelled membership. Now, North American membership is also
on the rise, with vigorous new chapters in the Southwest and
Pacific Northwest, and new programs that address the issues of
applying and integrating displays and display subsystems in
products. These programs are in addition to SID’s more
traditional programs that emphasize the issues involved in
designing and manufacturing the displays themselves.
SID organizes conferences and
exhibitions around the world devoted to display technologies and
products, and is the publisher of Information Display magazine
and the Journal of the Society for Information Display.
It publishes conference digests and books, as well as
maintaining its website at www.sid.org.
The Society for Information
Display is the premier international non-profit society devoted
to the advancement of display technology, manufacturing, and
applications, with international headquarters at 31 East Julian
Street, San Jose, California 95112 U.S.A. Website www.sid.org.
