International Display Research Conference to be Held at The Breakers in Palm Beach

Streamlined conference structure features four invited symposia on cutting-edge topics and four days of single-track technical sessions

July 14, 2000 -- The Society for Information Display's 20th International Display Research Conference (IDRC) will be held September 25-28 at the legendary The Breakers Hotel located directly on the Atlantic Ocean in Palm Beach, Florida. On each of its four days, IDRC kicks off with a 90-minute invited symposium on an exciting topic in display research and development, and then moves into a sequence of contributed, peer-reviewed technical sessions. The entire conference is arranged in a single track to encourage interdisciplinary communication and fertilization, and includes opportunities for networking and relaxation in one of Florida's classic resort hotels.

The four invited symposia are Microdisplays, Technologies for Electronic Paper, Organic Light Emitting Devices, and Substrates and Electronics for Flexible Displays. The other technical sessions are:

  • Dynamics of LCDs

  • Novel LC Development

  • Ferroelectric and Antiferroelectric

  • New Concept of Combined Laser-SLM Projection Display

  • EL and OLEDs

  • Plasma Displays

  • FEDs and CRTs

  • Active Matrix Technologies

In addition, on Tuesday evening there will be a poster session with 50 poster papers.

IDRC is the premier annual international conference covering fundamental technologies for advanced electronic displays. It rotates between North America, Asia (where it is called "Asia Display"), and Europe (where it is called "Euro Display"). The heart of this year's location, The Breakers, is a luxurious Italian Renaissance style building constructed in 1926 to replace an older wooden hotel of the same name built by early Florida developer Henry Morrison Flagler. The hotel was expanded in 1968 and renovated in 1996 (for more than ten times the cost of its original construction). The conference organizers have arranged for sharply reduced rates at The Breakers, allowing all conference attendees to enjoy an exceptional property.

The Society for Information Display is an international society devoted to the advancement of display technology, manufacturing, and applications, with headquarters at 31 East Julian Street, San Jose, California 95112; URL: www.sid.org.
