Indianapolis,
Indiana, September 10 - Samsung Electronics announced the
introduction of the world's largest LCD-TV available to the
consumer - the 46-inch LTP468W, which is the first consumer
flat-panel TV on the market to boast a 1920x1080p native
resolution, the highest of the 18 ATSC formats. The LTP468W
will be on display at CEDIA in Booth 285 in the Main Hall of
the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, September
10-12.

"Samsung
retains the crown of World's Largest LCD-TV, but this set is
more about performance than size," said Jim Sanduski,
Vice President for Samsung Electronic America's Visual
Display Products Group. "The LTP468W…shows that
larger-sized direct-view LCD for home theater is here
now."

a 12-millisecond pixel response time for handling
fast-moving video. The LTP468W incorporates Samsung's latest
generation of DNI-e picture enhancement circuitry that
delivers improved contrast, detail, color, and video motion
optimization.
"The
entertainment community is headed in the direction of the
1920x 1080 format, both interlaced and progressive,"
commented Robert Seidel, CBS Television Network's Vice
President of Engineering & Technology. "For the
last 5 years CBS has been using the 1920x1080 format for all
of our HDTV programming, including primetime, daytime,
movies, special, and sports broadcasts. Our sister network
MTV produced the MTV music awards in 1920x1080/24P. Showtime
and UPN are using 1920x1080 as well. In fact, of the 23 HD
channels or services announced to date, 20 are using the
1920x1080 format. If we look at the TV industry as a whole,
a significant number of shows currently in production are
captured in the 1920x1080/24P format for all the major
networks. So the content is out there."
The LTP468W
features two-tuner PIP, DVI and dual component-video inputs,
an HDMI digital video connector, and a JBL® stereo speaker
system with 30 watts of total audio power The set weighs in
at less than 100 lbs. It will be available in Q4 2004 for an
MSRP of $9999.

HoloTouch
Announces Plug-and-Play Touchless Holographic Interface
Darien,
Connecticut, August 30 - HoloTouch, Inc. and Atlantex
Corporation today announced the launch of a fully functional
touchless holographic interface that allows operators to
enter commands and data into a wide range of electronic
equipment by simply passing a finger through holographic
images of "keys" floating in the air at a
convenient location. HoloTouch technology is well suited for
applications where mechanical switches are not rugged
enough, sterilization or hygiene is an issue (as in medical
devices), or the user interface needs to be bigger than the
device.

Powered by,
and delivering data to, the USB port - or other ports - of a
standard PC, the device projects a 1-inch-square floating
holographic images of its "keys" several inches in
front of the hardware. The programmable device comes with
all necessary software and the infrared sensors needed to
detect an operator's interaction with the floating
holographic images, as well as free support. Further
information, including detailed specifications, can be
obtained at www.holodemo.com,
a site maintained by HoloTouch licensee Atlantex.
R. Douglas
McPheters, President of HoloTouch, said, "This compact
new device demonstrates there are no practical barriers to
using our innovative touchless holographic actuation and
control technology in a wide variety of electronic
equipment, including those sold in the automotive, banking,
factory-floor, gaming, kiosk, leisure, medical, military,
personal and home electronics, and toy markets. This unit is
available for debugging by potential licensees of our
technology, as well as those interested in better
understanding how the advantages of HoloTouch will improve
their interface products by enhancing convenience,
durability, and hygiene, while adding sizzle. HoloTouch also
offers its licensees the holographic and optoelectronic
design and engineering services needed to ramp up specific
applications."
