ERG Introduces New Six-lamp Inverter for Large FPDs
Endicott, New York, September 5 - Today, Endicott Research Group (ERG) announced the 8mF dc-ac inverter, intended for the large - 18.1 to 21.3 inches diagonal - LCDs used in desktop monitors, financial displays, industrial and medical monitors, kiosks, and other applications where 6 CCFLs are required to properly backlight the panel.
"Applications such as these require a high starting voltage, in the area of 1500 VAC," said Don Jensen, Senior Vice President at ERG. "And when you're powering a flat panel in this size range, …you can't run all the lamps off of a single transformer because not all of the lamps will light properly." The 8mF inverter provides six transformers on a single PC board (measuring 9.5 x 2.5 inches, or 241 x 63 mm) - one for each lamp in an LCD backlit by 6 CCFLs.
"This is … a very cost effective solution," said Jensen, "and it's available off-the-shelf in 4 weeks. We expect the 8mF to be used across a wide spectrum of large FPD applications once engineers see what it can do. Pricing for the 8mF inverter is $32.55 in 1000-piece quantities. Delivery is 4 weeks A.R.O.
