Member-Get-A-Member Program
This is the idea behind the SID
Member-Get-A-Member (MGM) Program. Most members
know how beneficial SID membership is in their professional
lives and what it has meant to their technical and career
development. With this campaign, SID members themselves can
get the word out about SID's membership benefits and as a
result, help SID membership grow.
Beginning 1 January 2006 and
running through the year SID will conduct the MGM Program
to encourage members to recruit their colleagues to join SID. In
return for their efforts, the recruiter will earn a US$10.00
credit voucher for each full dues paid member recruited
which can be used towards SID dues, SID Society fees or the
purchase of SID products and services.
Rules of the Program
- SID members (Society affiliates, non-members and past
members are not eligible) may recruit members above the
grade of Student for the MGM program. (See recruiting
tips)
- Completed applications, with full dues payment, must
be submitted with the recruiter's name and if known
membership number -- in the proper recruiter box on the
application.
- Applications may be submitted in hard copy or
online.
- To qualify, applications must be received at SID
before December 31, 2006. All cash award vouchers will
be mailed to qualified recruiters prior to 1 March 2007
and will be valid through 31 December 2008.
- Any issues arising regarding any aspect of this
program will be decided by at least 3 directors of the
Society and their decision will be final.
MGM Recruiting Tips
- Invite at least one non-member colleague to attend an
SID event or Chapter meeting to experience first-hand the
professional benefits of SID membership.
- Follow up a discussion about SID membership with a
note emphasizing membership benefits; be sure to provide
an application.
- Send prospective recruits to Jenny, or send them to
the web site.
- Keep issues of SID's Information Display
and Society publications on display to attract the eye of
non-member employees.
- Publish an article in your company newsletter telling
how the SID helped you in your career or helped the
company.
- Post announcements of SID meetings and SID
conferences, seminars and educational programs on company
bulletin boards.
- Welcome your company's newly hired technical
employees and use the opportunity to discuss the benefits
of SID membership.
- When discussing membership with a prospect, listen
for clues as to what they look for in a professional
society. Stress those member benefits that meet their
needs!
- Suggest they check out the SID web site and apply on
line. Whether your recruit applies using a hard copy or
online, make sure they fill in your name in the recruiter
box to be to become eligible for this program.
- Coordinate an SID event at your place of
employment.
