Jyrki Kimmel
Jyrki Kimmel earned his M. Sc. and
Licentiate of Technology degrees at Tampere University of
Technology Electrical Engineering Department in 1986 and 1992,
respectively.
He has been active in the fields of
optoelectronics and guided-wave biosensor research, having
been working and studying at the Technical Research Centre of
Finland and University of Utah, before joining Nokia in 1996.
Since then he has been responsible for display-related
research in the Nokia Research Center in Tampere, Finland,
where currently he is Senior Research Manager of the
Multimedia Input/Output devices Competence Area of the
Audio-Visual Systems Laboratory.
His main interests are displays, imaging,
and related optics research. He also lectures on display
related topics at the Tampere University of Technology, and he
has participated as guest lecturer in the Displaymasters
lecture series in the U. K.
Mr. Kimmel is also active in the Society
for Information Display, having first served as the Chairman,
and for the past two years, as the Director, of the Mid-Europe
Chapter.
