Dr. Darrel G. Hopper
Dr.
Hopper received his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Oklahoma
State University in 1971 with a dissertation in theoretical
chemistry. Following a post-doctoral year in biochemistry he
spent 10 years accomplishing basic research in quantum
molecular physics. In 1982 he transitioned to applied research
in electro-optics with work in digital optical computing,
communications, signal processing, and displays. He has led
display technology programs for the U.S. Department of Defense
since 1988 and presently manages the Aerospace Displays
Program at the Air Force Research Laboratory. Dr. Hopper has
over 220 publications in four broad categories: organic
chemistry; quantum chemistry and molecular physics;
electro-optics technology and optical computing; and displays.
Dr. Hopper is Chairman of the DoD Roadmap for Displays.
