David Eccles

David Eccles has 30 years experience in display systems and consumer electronics. He is currently an independent consultant working in video and display systems engineering, product development and manufacturing, and project management. Dave has helped companies to develop new products, improve their product design process, and enter profitable products in consumer, industrial, and DOD markets. Besides his technical skills he has also had significant management experience.

Previously he was VP of Engineering for Sony's TV business with experience in R&D, product design, and manufacturing for various products including TV, HDTV, home networking, digital satellite, and computer monitors. At Hughes Aircraft Co. he managed R&D and product design for air traffic control displays and high resolution liquid crystal projectors.

David is the SID Americas Regional Vice President, has served on the SID board of directors representing San Diego, has served on the annual symposium program committee since 1988, and has helped organize numerous SID conferences. As a SID board and executive committee member he has been instrumental in improving the organization and management of SID operations. He has served on industry boards and standards committees. Dave has authored papers for SID and other industry publications as well as presented seminars on various display, TV, product development, and networking topics. He has assisted in SID outreach programs in Mexico and participated in the recent organization of the Latin American Chapter.

He received a B.S.E.E. from the University of California at Irvine, and did postgraduate work at Purdue U. He speaks fluent Spanish and traveler's Japanese.
