Optical Films for LCD Backlights

LCD backlights must balance performance
tradeoffs between on-axis brightness, angle cutoff, uniformity,
efficiency, color, and contrast, as well as thickness, durability, and
system cost. This seminar will address the basic operation and
interactions between backlight optical elements, including reflective
polarizers, prism films, specular and diffuse reflectors, and
transmissive diffusers.
