A-6:
Emerging Applications of Electronic Paper
Alex
Henzen, iRex Technologies, Eindhoven, The Netherlands
In reality, electronic paper has to mimic
many aspects of paper, while all aspects of the modern flat-screen
displays have to be incorporated as well. Document access speed has to
exceed that of a PC, and user interface must be intuitive and easy while
performing even the most complex of tasks. Also, the size and resolution
must be available to make it possible to show all content currently
available on all media sizes. Finally, it must all be available at a low
price. New generations of electronic-paper devices must meet (most of)
these requirements. This seminar will focus on how electronic-paper
technology evolved, what challenges were faced along its road to
commercialization, along with an outlook for future enhancements and
applications.
