M11:
3D Display Technology and Applications
Matthew Brennesholtz, Insight Media,
Pleasantville, NY, USA
3D displays
currently represent a very small portion of the total display
market. This share is likely to grow in the future as new 3D
technologies reduce the cost and image quality differentials
between 2D and 3D displays. These improved displays and reduced
costs will allow mainstream 3D applications as well as expand the
current 3D niche markets. This seminar will cover the major
technologies used in both autostereoscopic and glasses-dependent
3D displays. 3D technologies based on head-mounted, direct-view
and projection displays will be discussed. The current and future
applications of these displays will also be covered briefly.
