Executives from Universal Pictures, AKT, BMW Announced as SID 2007 Keynote Speakers

SID is proud to announce the Keynote Speakers for Display Week 2007: The SID International Symposium, Seminar & Exhibition. The Keynote Session will take place Tuesday, May 22, and kicks off the Technical Symposium portion of Display Week.

The Keynote Speakers are as follows:

Jerry Pierce
Former Senior Vice President of Technology, Universal Pictures, Universal City, California, USA

Pierce will discuss the landscape of changing expectations for home entertainment and the impact of the evolution of the movie-making and distribution processes from film to digital. Movie making and distribution are transitioning from film centric to digital centric. A 2K workflow is now typical for feature motion pictures, and the reference print is now a digital presentation. What impact will this have on new home entertainment displays?

In Doo Kang
General Manager and Corporate Vice President, Display Business Group, AKT Inc., an Applied Materials Co.

Kang's keynote is entitled: "Are We There Yet: The End Game of Generations." Kang became head of AKT's marketing and global sales in 2001, and has been corporate vice president of the Display Group since 2005. Before joining AKT, Kang held marketing and engineering positions at Sun Microsystems and Fairchild Semiconductor.

Robert Isele
Manager of Driver Information Concepts, Display Technologies for BMW Group, Munich, Germany
Chair of FPD Technologies for the German Flat-Panel Display Forum (DFF)

Isele's lecture will focus on the growing market for automotive displays. He will also discuss display technology as an enabler of design visions, with an emphasis on visions for the years 2012-2015.

Isele joined BMW in 1994 after earning an Engineering Degree in Electronics 1994 at FH Munich. From 1994 to 1997, he worked on simulation of MMI Concepts in the early phase of car development. From 1997 to 2001, he was responsible for display development of transflective technologies and the digital display interface. From 2001 to 2002, he was the manager for Look & Feel, Visual Technologies, Graphics and Optical Lab. From 2003 to 2005, he was manager of Perceived Value User Interface and Technologies.
