Jonathan
Winawer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Classics from Columbia University
and a Master of Science in Neurobiology from the City College of New
York. He is now a doctoral candidate in the Department of Brain and
Cognitive Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a
visiting scholar at Stanford University's Department of Psychology. He
has done extensive research in the field of experimental myopia, using
animal models to study how the developing eye uses visual feedback to
grow into focus. Current research at MIT and Stanford relates to a wide
range of visual phenomena, including segmentation and lightness
perception, synesthesia, and the neural substrates of mental imagery.
