FPD Market
Outlook, Ross Young, DisplaySearch
The latest outlook for flat-panel displays, covering pricing,
demand, and supply, will be presented. The latest forecasts for the

Market
Outlook for Non-LCD Technologies, Paul Semenza, iSuppli Corp.
Liquid-crystal displays currently account for approximately
two-thirds of electronic-display revenues, and the share is
increasing. Will LCDs attain complete dominance? To explore this
issue, trends in display-applications markets will be considered,
and the status of display technologies, including plasma, organic,
LED, inorganic LED, CRT, and other emissive and projection
technologies, will be examined. |
| 2:30
pm |
Managing
the Crystal Cycles, Jun Souk, Executive VP, Samsung
Electronics
By reviewing what happened during the business up-and-down cycles of
the LCD in the past, we have learned lessons that will reduce the
burden in future cycles. Efforts made in cost reduction,
line-investment timing, and new market generation will be described. |

Plasma
Displays for the Big-Screen-TV Market, Larry Weber,
Consultant
Plasma TV was the most desired gift this past holiday season in the
U.S.A. Plama now holds the lead position in the world dollar sales
of direct TVs over 40 in. on the diagonal. It will maintain this
lead over the strong challenges of LCD TVs and projection TVs. |

Are We
Getting the "Big Picture"? Kyle Ranson, President
and CEO, InFocus Corp.
The large-format-display industry has shifted from serving early
adopters and technology enthusiasts to pursuing mainstream markets
in order to avoid excess capacity and accelerated price declines.
InFocus is re-engineering its innovation and branding strategy to
address the challenges of serving a broader less-technology-savvy
consumer. |

Valuing
the Potential of OLED Technology, David Fyfe, CEO, Cambridge
Display Technology
Because CDT was able to complete an IPO in difficult markets when it
is still consuming cash, evidences the potential of the technology
in the eyes of investors. The messages about OLEDs that were gleaned
during the IPO process will be addressed, and what must happen in
the OLED industry if the expectations of these investors are to be
met will be discussed. |

Emerging
TFT-LCD Applications and the Substrate Opportunity, Peter L.
Bocko, VP and Director, Corning Display Group
In the past 2 years, the LCD platform has advanced from a
"toehold" in the TV market to a firm footing of 9.5
million units in 2004. All of the present Gen 6 and 7 expansions of
LCD capacity are dedicated towards TV. While the major story of the
LCD is indeed TV, a revolution in small displays is under way to
more-complex higher-value devices. All of these developments present
a challenge to the glass suppliers to deliver more value and more
capability to the display manufacturers. |
| 1:30
pm |
High-Power
LEDs in Visual Media: The Revolution is Here, Michael Holt,
CEO, Lumileds, Inc.
High-power LEDs are poised to transform the science of image
projection, the way that we interact with visual media, and even the
media themselves. From LED-based PC monitors and TVs to a new breed
of "pocket imagers" for small groups, high-power LED
technology will set new standards for color reproduction and enable
never-before-possible applications. |
| 2:00
pm |
Size
Matters, But Yield Kills, Jeff Hawthorne, President and CEO,
Photon Dynamics
As LCD manufacturers bring sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-generation
TFT-LCD fabs on-line, yield management will become one of the most
critical factors enabling the production of high-quality LCD TVs at
lower price points. |
| 2:30
pm |
LCD TV
Performance Meets Mobile-Display Applications, Joe Virginia,
VP, Samsung LCD Business - Americas Region
Some of the advances being applied to mobile LCDs today were
initially motivated by and designed for large-display applications,
such as desktop monitors and LCD TVs. As these advances now trickle
down into small cellular-telephone displays, other small-display
applications, such as portable media players, will benefit as well.
The market opportunities that will result as these performance
improvements are implemented will be examined. |

Intel and
Displays: Bridging Mobile Communications, Mobile Computing, the
Digital Home, and Investments, Thomas E. Holder, Senior
Strategic Investment Manager, Intel Capital
Intel's perspective, role, and activities relating to internal
initiatives, external developments, and investments for Intel
silicon and their interface with displays will be explained. |
| 4:00
pm |
New
Disruptive Display Technologies, Elliott Schlam, Elliott
Schlam Associates
Despite the huge consumer markets controlled by mainstream display
technologies, there are opportunities for lesser-known technologies
to have significant impact. These opportunities generally relate to
display size, ambient viewing conditions, and cost, in both consumer
and non-consumer markets. This presentation will provide a status
report on previously discussed technologies. |
