The largest of the three regions of the SID, the Americas region encompasses over 3000 members, the majority located in the United States (12 chapters), one chapter in Canada and one chapter to serve the needs of Latin America, the geographic areas of South America, Central America and Mexico. Under the leadership of the Americas Vice President the goal of the Americas region is to effectively promulgate the goals of the SID for its members through its fourteen (14) chapters in a manner tailored to the nature and changing needs of its diverse constituency.

The mission of the Americas region of the SID is to:

• support chapter activities

• initiate and support regional conferences

• encourage interaction between chapters for the benefit of their members

• recognize members of extraordinary achievements

• promote a spirit of volunteerism among members

• promote university and student roles in SID activity, and

• develop & promote its regional identity.
