Paul S. Drzaic
Paul S. Drzaic is currently Principal at Drzaic Consulting
Services, providing expert assistance to organizations in
areas of flat panel display technology, nanotechnology,
intellectual property assessment, and business plan
development and evaluation. Previously, he has held positions
as Chief Technology Officer at Unidym, Inc., Vice President
for Advanced Development Programs at Alien Technology
Corporation, Director of Technology at E Ink Corporation, and
Principal Scientist at Raychem Corporation. He holds a PhD in
chemistry from Stanford University, and a BS in chemistry from
the University of Notre Dame.
Much of Drzaic's professional career has been in the
development of novel display technologies. He is author of the
1995 book Liquid Crystal Dispersions, a comprehensive review
of polymer dispersed liquid crystal technology, as well as 18
journal publications, 22 US patents, and over 20 articles in
conference and popular publications. He is a winner of the
2002 National Team Innovation Award from the American Chemical
Society, as well as an Editor's Choice award for the R&D
100 awards for 2001. He is a Fellow of the SID.
Drzaic has extensive experience within SID, as well as
other professional societies. Within SID, he has served as on
the SID Board of Directors since 2002, currently serving as
President. He has also served as SID Symposium General Chair
(2001), Program Chair (1999), Seminar Chair (1997), and
Executive Secretary (1996), as well as General Chair and
Program Chair for the International Display Research
Conference (2003 and 2000, respectively). He was also
Associate Editor of the Journal of the SID from 1993-1997. He
has also organized or chaired conferences for the SPIE,
Materials Research Society (MRS), and American Physical
Society. He has also sat on technical advisory boards for four
different university-based Materials Research Centers. He is
presently a Chair of the Editorial Board for the MRS
Bulletin, a monthly journal sent to over 14,000 MRS
members.
